WWRC Fiji Fuel tanks and accessories

New addition to WWRC..

i have been making these fuel tanks for myself for the past three and a third years.

See post #30 on the 200 plus page thread on FG. (key word Sick of Fuel tanks...)

So I have refined my parts list (through testing) and here is the new addition to my website,

Right now, I am stocking pre made 11.1 oz and 16.7 oz WWRC Fiji water bottle to accommodate the 20, 30 and 50cc gasser market that goes with alot of the product that I kit.

Since I had to order items by quantity I thought I would offer the individual pieces and parts for those hobby guys and gals who wish to make their own.

If anyone is interested in a tutorial on making tanks with these parts that I carry, I am happy to oblige. See items and prices here.

Standard 330 ml(11.15 oz) Fiji tank with regular gas tubing.

Fuel nipples are polypropylene and will give multi year service. They are impervious to fuel and the additives, what will get them in the long term is UV light... Having said that, I am on my second year on a couple sets around here.

We thread tap the plastic cap and tank... and then join them with Seal All. The caps do not tend to crack unless you are prone to crashing a lot.

THE CAPS ARE NOT GLUED ON, THEY ARE FINGER TIGHT AND THE SHRINK TUBE HOLDS THEM FROM MOVING.

I have a few of these setup tanks again, on year #2 with ZERO issues...

The fuel barbs are designed for 1/8 (3.2mm) fuel line. Trust me, If you put 1/8 inch fuel tube on one of these barbs, you will likely be cutting it to get it off... Just the same, we back it up with cable ties.

Here is the Delux version of the 330ml with genuine 1/8 inch Viton (thin wall stuff)

No photos yet, but in stock are the 500ml Fiji tanks for 50cc. Same standard gas line option and delux Viton option.

For 20cc class engines the 330 ml tank will likely get ya twenty minutes of flight. (your results may vary) I recommend that if your 20cc plane is weight critical and you only want an 8 ounce tank.... fill it up 3/4 of the way for the same fuel load.

For 30cc class engines the 330ml tank easily gives a 12 minute flight of the most extreme throttling, (our experience) for low and slow 3D I have done a 20 minute flight on my 30cc setup and still had enough fuel for a go around or three...

For 50cc class engines.... Low and Slow 3D gives a 15 minute flight on the 50ml tank, if you are hucking it hard and varying from 3/4 to full throttle for the entire flight then you may only expect a 10 minute flight with small reserves.

All of the above quotes are my experience with a properly tuned engine.

Here are the pieces and parts.

1/8 Polypropylene firewall T with nut. This is best used in the cap area to transfer the fuel from the tank on its way to the engine. Threads are 1/4-28

Althoug not necessary, we tap the plastic with a tap to insure a perfect fit before assembling the fittins with Seall All on both sides.

The 90 degree fuel vent line also works great for those setups that are space limited.

Tread size on this one is 10-32, (nut is stainless steel) when we assemble them on the tanks we use a tap to tap the plastic before gluing just the same as the others.

This nipple is designed for 3/32 tube, when used in the vent position with 3mm gas fuel line it is an acceptable fit, recommend a cable tie for extra security, just like we do on all other locations inside and outsite the tank... cable tie it!!

These brass fittings are re-usable. The hose fit for these is about 3.96 mm or 5/32.

Although the 18 inch line has been used up to 100cc thes fitting are more appropriate for the larger fuel line associated with over 100 cc class engines.

To use one for a vent line it is necessary to dremel off the end farthest from the threads and use like the plastic fitting noted above.

Once the smoke settles and I have finished updating the website, I will add the larger Fiji bottles.

I prefer the Fiji because of the mechanical seal in the cap...

You cant believe what goes in ones mind when walking the aisle of a grocer or convenience store...We look at them all...

I agree about the Fiji bottles- the cap is better. I have two gas stoppers ready to go on my next two tanks. I prefer the fittings, like you have, but the stoppers actually fit pretty tight in the neck of the bottle giving it a positive seal.

I've had rotten luck with the Fiji caps splitting at the fuel pick up bulkhead fitting. Been using Pepsi bottle caps, since they are Blue. :)

Did you glue them? All the ones that I have seen crack were glued.

Let me ask this question. How many cracked lids do you think they see at the grocery store?

This is why I have learned to not glue them but to finger tight them and then shrink tube over that so the finger tight cap cant move. I hooked up a bunch of bros at the pro bro site last year with these fuel tanks... zero cap issues thus far.

I used a smart water bottle on my last plane . I put seal all on the threads before i screwed on the top . I also learned to use a small grinding cone to cut the hole in the water bottle and not a drill bit .
