I bought the prototype 35% PAU Extra 300SP from Herve at the XFC this past weekend. Probably shouldn't start this thread yet since I don't have anything for it yet.

Needed a little distraction from the everyday so I locked myself in the shop and shut my phone off. I was staring at my New Prototype Extra and decided to get started with the box of spare parts I had on the bench. All these parts except the new Pulse Batteries that I got specifically for this plane are left over from my other Extra I sold 2 yrs. ago. The rest is coming out of the Dalton when it Sells.

Wanted to go High voltage with this one but It's not going to happen. The Smart Fly only goes up to 6V. I have to ponder on this. I can go another rout but if I ask myself "Why" I can't come up with a good reason since the old setup worked flawlessly.

    Here are the starting pictures.

Talked to Colton on FB and decided I can use this receiver to go high voltage. HV is new to me. I was worried about High Voltage on the ignition. I think I can regulate the Output Voltage with the IBEC I use. All servos will be HV. Don't know which ones yet. Right now I have the 7955s coming out of the Dalton sometime. I may use those or just get some new Savox servos.

Sharp looking airframe! Can't wait to see it (yours) in the air!

The big 40% planes are sweet, but they are a bit of a white elephant if you know what I mean. Unless you are really, really serious about IMAC they are too much of a pain to deal with.

    That's exactly why I'm going back to a 35%.

I changed out the Smart Fly for one of my Power Safe receivers. I hooked up my mini servos with a 6V battery to try it and see if I had the DX-18 set up right. Piece of cake. I understand Spectrum better then the rest. :)

The silver patch don't match. Not Gray enough. I'll change it before I go flying it.

Both of these are mine. Colton was flying my red Edge and the prototype that I now own was flown by Gaby at Joe Nall.

Ah. Thanks for explaining. I was wondering why a new plane would need a patch. :confused5:

My friend Art owed me some switches and he paid me back. I changed the ends on both of the new ones to Deans. Now I have 2 new switches and Power to the receiver. Also have a DA120 o the way. But it will take a couple of weeks to get them. The Guy I got them from is Going to China for a week. He'll mail it out when he gets back.

I also talked to Brian about some High Voltage servos. Have not decided which ones I want. Have to get up some funds first anyway. I still hope to have the servos in the plane by Aug-1.

Thanks Steve. The storms haven't got me yet, though they got just about everybody else. So much rain it is unbelievable, for here anyway.
I only was able to get about two flights yesterday and only one last weekend. I won't even bother driving 40 miles to my club field due to possible weather concerns so I have been flying renegade, locally. Dammitt.

Yup, there is a certain level of insanity that is lost in his absence. :jester:
