I bought an entire assortment rack, back in the day from Auto Parts Club....it had a dozen of each size, from really F'n Small, to Really F'n Big, and everything in the F'n middle.
Lets see what his answer is....the extra clamp can't be used to hold the muffler in this case.....lol.

I'm preparing for a 12 bolt 4.11 swap with new leaf springs this weekend. Should be about a 1.75 inch drop and a much stiffer spring rate.

4:11's? That's hella low! (Unless you have 30~33" tall tires!)
I had 4:56's once in a car.....was doing 3500 RPM at 55 mph on the freeway.
It was great for stoplight to stoplight, but sucked ass (and Gas) any other time.

My Blower Car had the stock 2.73 (It think that's the "High Way Gears")
But, with a 6-71 Blown LT1 355, it had no problem lighting up the tires anytime you wanted. But, that too, sucked gas....4 miles a gallon....(if you were nice)
If you weren't nice, it dropped to about 1.5 miles a gallon.

BTW, wouldn't a stiffer spring rate, mean less traction?
I have limited suspension tuning on Full Scale cars (because that s hit is expensive to trial an error)
But, from my On Road RC Car racing, stiff springs, mean less traction.
Soft springs, more traction, but, you get more body roll, up to the point of traction rolling the car.
So, it was a balance of finding the sweet spot.....push the tires as hard as you could, without rolling the car.
On a touring car set up, a stiff rear suspension, will make the rear end loose. (OVERSTEER), so to balance it out, you'll have to stiffen the front end.
The car will get snappier (like your driving on 3D rates) more responsive, but at the same time, less forgiving. Over power it, and before you can react to oversteer, the sonofabitch will be spun around backwards 180 degrees.
I'm sure the general principals will be similar to full scale.
I installed dropped springs and fat sway bars into my brother's Nissan back in the day, it made it handle just as I mentioned above.
    Food (non-GMO) for thought.

Stiffer suspension all around and better shocks to combat the body roll. I've been acquiring the hotchkis stuff for my car because it's all set to make it handle well but not overdo anything like spring rate. Gonna put some big sway bars on and bigger brakes.

Got it....your making a full scale slot car! lol
Remember, keep that power in check, and don't drive it like we fly airplanes!

Spider-Man said, with great power, comes great responsibility!

Or some s hit like that.

I learned from doing "lawn jobs" on the GF's parents' front lawn. You really master the counter steering and E-Brake slides. This is all before Ken Block and YouTube. So, Caveman era.

So since my last posting i got the car running and driving but as i hit the apex of a corner pretty hard i felt something let go in the motor and it started spewing oil like crazy and the ring i had long suspected to be in bad condition had finally cracked and had started digging holes in my cylinder wall :yikes: Onwards of that i dug the 327 my dad had around from his car back in the day that has 10.5-1 compression a comp 268 cam and ported fuelie heads out and started prepping it for the swap. I put atf in each cylinder to get everything lubed and then painted the motor and checked oil pressure etc. Dropped the motor in about a week ago and got most everything ready to go but i got super busy this week/weekend so its gonna have to wait. I'm planning on flying alot more this year than i did last year. I'l upload some pics for you guys.

Also been busy at work, boss said he wants me full time this summer which was a given but he also wants me to move up from assistant with the occasional job to mechanic with no more parts running and no more cleaning. I'm moving up!

    Ah....spoken like a true Gear-Head!

Bigass Model Airplane engines seem really cheap after one or two built SBCs.

H-Ster......Do you have a 4 speed Muncie avail?
    I'm building a 454 BBC '80 Marro.
(See what happens when you post car pics on an Airplane site?! lol )
I'm trading my 48" MXS for Brandons' 1980 Camaro (He also has a 73 that I'd rather build, but it's in S hitty condition!)

    Lol....I know, right?!I&*%^@(

I hated them up to last week also.

The 70's Split bumpers were cool. Then I found a '78 Z28, that looked doable......It's similar to the "Piece Of Crap Camaro" from Transformers' Bumblebee... Not much difference from the 78, 79, 80, 81....they all had weak engines. Fix that by stuffing a BBC into it. From the outside, it will still look like a 6 cyl POS, but a sleeper with a Rat motor. lol

But, I am always suspect to buy someone's piece of crap that I'm not familiar with, in case the "builder" is a hack.

Starting with a bare body and building it up myself (although an assload of work) I'll know what corners are cut, and which aren't.

(I'll haul the sucker to Hawaii......cars are expensive there)
