nicely done . is that white glue you are using for the rivets , what do you use for the applicator . I'm sure if you pulled a mold from your parts you could sell quite a few . cheers .

I've never made a mold before. I definitely don't want to go into the RC business. It would take the fun out of it for me. I don't like to do things more then once. I really got frustrated last summer when I had to fix the landing gear on my Albatros twice from dead stick crashes. It is sitting right now Needing LG repair from last October. It's just waiting till I get in the mood. :)

Totally understand , I have a similar issue doing biplanes . once Iv'e built the first couple of wings the second set gets quite tedious .. Funny I don't mind buying a plane that needs fixing but hate to fix one Iv'e built ..

I took a couple of days off from the Chipie to Build my first RC car in 30 yrs. Used to race them back then. My 2 sons got back into racing so I built me a car so I can participate when I go to hang with them at the race track.

I'll be back on the Chipie tomorrow. IMG_7845.JPG

Car is finished so I'm back on the Chipmunk. Right now I'm trying to make a full scale looking exhaust. My welding skills suck so it takes 10 times longer then it should. I'm bending in the stingers. Going to make a collector in the center of the fuse. Not much to look at right now but this will give you an idea of what I"m trying to do.
In the last picture I have the stinger on the right side of the picture kicked in to about where it will end up. The one on the left side of the picture still needs to be kicked inboard.

I think your tig welds look pretty good . I found some 1/16" tig rods and some 1/16" tungsten rods rods and they worked much better for keeping the weld puddle small.

Worked out a setup that hols the pieces in place so I tack weld it. I'm also figuring out the welder. Still going slow. Still working out angles. May have to kick in the stingers one more time. Wish I had some aluminum elbows. Would make things a lot easier.

Just so you know I'm still working on the muffler when I'm not frustrated with welding. [IMG]:) Getting close.

Can you tell me where you got your scale cockpit instruments? They look really nice.

That is one really cool looking exhaust system. I can't wait to hear what it sounds like.

I decided to make a new exhaust from the mufflers back. Have the parts made up. The more I looked at what I had, the less I liked it. If you first don't succeed.

Got the graphics and the paint masks from Callie Soden at Callie Graphics. Awesome job. The scale looks perfect. However I didn't get the small Stickers. I'll send an email later and order them also. IMG_7861.jpg IMG_7862.jpg IMG_7863.jpg IMG_7864.jpg

Made great progress on the muffler. Thanks to the behind the scenes tutelage from Roger Seymour. I now have some really solid welds. Still need a lot of practice before I can become a professional. It doesn't matter since I have given up being a professional anything, to retirement. [IMG]:)

I have all the pieces made for the muffler except a bracket to mount the lower collector to the firewall. Still need to weld on the bottom of the collector. IMG_7868.jpg IMG_7869.jpg IMG_7870.jpg

Good thing I didn't go to Florida Jets with Greg. Coming down with something... Developing a strong case of I don't feel like doing anything other then /sleeping in the recliner and eating. That's not good for me. [IMG]:(

Finally on the third version . I finished the muffler. Cut the bottom of the cowl to make it look more like the full scale. It's only going to resemble it. but it will look better then what I have.

I had to show off my welding. It is a far cry from two weeks ago.
