Yup. I went and dun did it. I boughted one of them, after getting a 2 minute pull on one, and watching Jase and Colton rip on them over the weekend in Bowling Green, KY. I got the Blue, Yeller and White one, with the white spinner. Guess I can deal with a plastic spinner, since SMJ doesn't offer a spinner..... Dammit.........

Tried to get the full combo dilly-yo, but EF was OOS on the Torque motor and ESC they recommend for it. So, I'm spec'ing a Scorpion motor for this airframe (SII-4020-540) and 15x8 and 16x8 APC-E props.. I have the ESC, Rx, and batteries. Once again, I don't need to buy batteries! Looking for a 6# flying weight with my 6S 5000 Glaciers.

Brian Emeson from Code 3 Innovations is setting me up with some new Savox 1250HV servos! The specs on these servos blow the HS 5245 out of the water, except for price. Brian's PM box elsewhere is full.......

Most the items I ordered should arrive next week! Gotta save a couple of bucks for IRCHAnext weekend too.... Have something to buy there, too, possibly the motor for my new Laser.

I picked up the 60" (64" with wingtips) MXS last month....it's bitchin' !
Savox SV servos....SV1250MG! (Hitec's belong in the bin.....at least, in my own opinion)
Good price on 'em from rchobbies4life on ebay, and helidirect.com $49.99 each, shipped.
The Airboss 80 thermal-ed on me......(I suspect) on a 100 degree day (10 seconds into the flight) Caused a damaged prop and landing gear due to the unexpected "Landing"
Yanked the Airboss out, and bought a new Castle Edge 100 amp. 6 Minute flights on 6S 3300 Thunder Power, 35~40% power remaining. 8volts out of the BEC. Xoar painted 16x7 on Torque MKII.
    Badass......ain't cheap, but worth it.

Oh, I'd suggest also ordering up a set of Dubro 2mm ball links.....the supplied ball links in my kit were crap (unless you like em' sloppy)

    Lets talk about power!

Basically, if the pics are unreadable....

    Scorpion SII 4020-540kV

    APC-E prop 16x8 94A/1908W
    "" 15x8 80A/1651W
    Xoar PNJ 16x7 91A/1845W

    Scorpion SII 4025-520kV

    APC-E prop 15x8 84A/1719W
    "" 16x8 101A/2027W
    Xoar PNJ 16x7 96A/1950W

They all are right at or over 300W/lb. Which means STOOOOOOOPID power!

Let me know how you like the Scorpion!

I'm not a big fan of the Airboss ESCs. I always have to run an idle on them because the response is so slow. I switched to a Gecko 85 on my 64" MXS (for half the price....) and it's much, MUCH better.

The 60" Laser is my next 3D plane, already have a new ESC (Castle Edge 100) for it but haven't decided on the motor or servos. I like the Torque, but if I can get more power, I'm okay with that :D I'm running 5245's on my MXS and constantly wish for something faster and stronger.

It'll also be my 6th EF plane. I am SO happy with their performance beyond 3DHS!!

Don't sweat it. I'll post how the Scorpion works out for me. As far as servos go, it is Savox for me. I flew Chads Laser with 7245's. It was plenty! Speed was great too! I've got a Castle 110 HV being mated to the Scorpion once I get it. It's what I have. I can also use for my 8S Viper Jet set up, just no BEC circut in the ESC. So, I have to run a Rx pack. Not a huge deal, just not a fan of BEC's with larger ESC's.

Got my props, motor and airplane. Of course, had to shell it out of the box and put it all together.

Motor is mounted, prop adapter is on, LG is on, wheel pants mounted. Just need servos now.

Looking forward to your flight report! I love my MXS, but after flying a friend's Laser for a couple of minutes I was hooked. I had the 48" version, and the 60" flies even better... like a giant foamy. Felt like the best of all the other EXPs all rolled into one, whereas the MXS excels at high speed and high energy.

ETA: Laser pop tops are awesome, if you do it right sometimes you can get it to exit in reverse :D
