I had a 3W 342 in my BH 60% Extra but the power was marginal, after seeing Brad flying his 60% at the Nall with a ZDZ 420, I couldn't believe the difference in power, I immediatly went to TBM and bought me a ZDZ 420 which I am in the process of installing, I pulled the 342 from the Extra and I think it should be a perfect match to a 60% Cub or Decathlon which I hope to do later on, for now I will show you the progress we made today, Jim Cyr, Rolling harrier came buy and helped me or can we say did all the work by reworking the motor box to fit the ZDZ which is a lot longer than the 3W342, I will also post a link to a video of both Extras, mine with a 342 and Brad's with a 420.
    Thanks Jim:thumbs:

Nice! It's good to see that the project is finally underway Elie. Are you planning on giving it a rip before the snow fly's?
Are you going to let Jim fondle the sticks on the first flight in exchange for the labor? LOL

    And few more.
As you can see from the pictures, I only had One pit beotch today Rolling Harrier but I still managed to smoke my Cohiba Maduro5 cigar also it was hard saying goodbye to the 342 which hopefully I will install in a 60% Cub or Decathlon:thumbs:

Thanks Dean, Jim gets the credit, he called me and said, let's do it, there is no way I can do it by myself, I will be updating the progress as we go.
Chris, scott, as soon we insatll the motor, I will fly it, so far we have the motor box, I am looking for a volunteer or as we call them here a pit beotch to cut the cowl in 2 pieces, he knows who he is:D

Are you going to take it to the Hill to do the first flight with the new motor?
I can't remember but that thing only has a one piece cowl?

Yes definitely going to the Hill, the best flying field that I know off.
Papa Joe,:D you're exactly right, actually I didn't do much as Jim is an expert builder and no way I can match his skills, he does it the right way, I do it the quick way.

For some reason I couldn't procure the rollingharrier name on TFC So I have a new screen name here!
Anyway it was a fun day working on the monster plane. We ended up getting flooring plywood from Home Depot for the firewall I was almost thick enough! ;-)
It's always fun hanging out with Snap. Soon the bird will be flying. the hard part is done! The 420 is Awesome!!!!!1

    Yo Scotty!
I don't think so. The biggest part is going to be splitting the cowl and doing the baffling. I told Elie to fly it without the cowl but he didn't think that was a good idea. Have to wait for Indian summer!
