There are not alot of 30cc sized ARF`s available in Canada from dealers. Ordering one from a dealer in the US involves not only our regular taxes, but most use UPS for shipping, and they really extort/ripp us off big time for their so called "brokerage fees" which can be as much as 40% of the products value. My friends got the 30cc Pilot Sbach and Yak from ParagonRC here in Ontario. I do not wish to have the same machine as them, as nice as they are. Great Hobbies distributes the Slipstream/EG line. But I would like a few more upgrades than the Slipstream line offers. EG is coming out soon with a 30cc MSXR (in green checkers version, like the 50cc now available), but It will not most likely be available till spring. I called Great Hobbies, because they are a Aeroworks distributor up here, and asked for a price on the new 30cc Edge 540. Thier price was $540 plus shipping and taxes. Ouch! Almost as much as my 50cc Aeroworks Edge I bought from HiFlight last spring, which are now unfortunately out of business. So I forgot that Idea. And Aeroworks new 3occ Extra 300 which soon will be released. So after much looking around, and seeing many positive builds on the internet on Peakmodels (a fellow from NB Canada on FG, RCU, RCCanada has done a number of their builds with positive results http://www.rccanada.ca/rccforum/showthread.php?t=113510 ) I decided to give their new 30cc MSX-R a whirl. http://www.peakmodel.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_99_112&products_id=646 Looking it over, only a couple important things I do not like are: the two piece airfoiled gear should be one piece, so we will have to see after flying if that will have to be up-graded, the firewall on the engine box needs some more tri stock and pinned with screws, some metric hardware I will change and not use like the servo arms, maybe the gas tank bung. And the wing area seems to small for a plane of 75 inch span. I think/hope this is a error in calculation. If not, I will have a nice big pylon racer! I E-mailed Peakmodel and asked a few questions first. The price includes shipping to most countries in the world. Spare parts are available on request. The covering on this model is name brand Monokote. The version I ordered is the yellow Breitling one. It accepts a can which is cool. I will be powering it with a DLE-30cc rear carb version two. TX will be a new JR11X (see thread started here on TFC in the 2.4 Arena forum) RX will be a JR R921 2.4 with two remote RX`s RXbattery will be a 2300 NoBSA123 racing with a Deans 16 gauge feed and a 22 gauge uni balance lead from Hangtimes Hobbies http://www.hangtimes.com/a123_packs.html RX switch will be a Electro Dynamics Ultra HD with quad gold plated contacts, 18 gauge Deans in, and two redundant 22 guage uni`s to the RX. Ignition will use another 2300 A123, another Electro Dynamics switch, but with a SmartFly voltage regulator inline to the electronic ignition pack of the DLE-30 http://www.smart-fly.com/Products/Regulator/4.htm. Five JR8411MG`s will be used for ailerons, elevator and rudder. Two DS3517MG metal gear mini`s will be used on throttle and choke. Servo arms will be a mix of the new H9 aluminum 3 bolt black ones and old H9 aluminum gold ones. Prop to start will be a Xoar PJE 3D 19A from Thunderbolt RC here in Ontario http://www.thunderboltrc.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=73_81 Fuel DOT will be a JE Model Products which I purchased from Aeroworks http://www.aero-works.net/store/detail.aspx?ID=329 The muffler will be a 30cc canister from Paragon RC here in Ontario http://www.prcmodel.com/modeng/name/onlinestore/func/viewprod/product/442 I have everything purchased except the engine, can, RX battery and switch, and one servo for choke or throttle, and have not decided on a spinner. I am really excited to get it and get started in a few weeks!
