Yeah......... I'm just now seeing that the Rudder/Fin, Stab/Elevator construction was done back in February of this year! Anything else completed on this Skybolt? After seeing this thread, I pulled my wings out of the bags to see what I could do to them. I resanded the entire top and bottom of each wing and took compressed air to them to clean them off. I have a couple of projects in front of the 'Bolt but I think I'll pull out the fuse tonight and do the same for it. Those pictures made me think of all the good times I had with it! Here is Kyle and I (back in 1992) with our first Skybolt just before it's demise and this is a real Skybolt here in Conroe that I think I'd like to use the paint scheme on the resurrected airframe.

Wow!! I love those pictures of the finished D.B. Skybolts. Thanks for posting!

Right now hobby money is hard to come by these days so I had to take on a another side gig. I'm kit bashing a 102" Meister-Scale FW190 D9 into a 144" TA-152H. It's basically a FW190 stretched out in all directions. Estimated delivery of August 2011. Bare airframe no paint.

Also just received my custom Jtech muff and other parts to mount my new DA-85 in My Old 102" Build Thread. I want to have this done by Christmas staycation.

Not sure when I can get back on N11NN. Grrrrr!

Just brought in all the Skybolt stuff from the shop to take some pics of the airframe. I'm really jacked up on seeing a thread on this bird so now I'm gonna make sure it's on the work bench in front of me. That will ensure it get's some "quality time!" It never was a 3D machine or anything like that but it sure had a great smoke system and could do the wild, wide-open aerobatics! Maybe 'Ol David will spend a little time with his 'Bolt between visits to his D-9!

Okay..... Gonna bump this so it's on the radar. I've got my camera back. (Didn't even know I loaned it out but my dear daughter brought it back!)
I'm headed to the shop to take the pics of my DB Skybolt. Post 'em in a little bit.

David, how are you doing on your Skybolt? Did you get it done? I have just dusted off my 30 year old plans for this plane, and got started on the stabilizer area and side fuse truss. Do you have "bone" photos of the rear area of the fuse? It's a little confusing from the plans how the trusswork converges at the tail post.

This thread is old? Of course it is! Hell, my 'Bolt is a combination of two old airframes put together to make a whole new airframe! (Both old airframes were built in 1980!) It's a flying tank at 22 pounds but who cares? I know I promised a while back to put some pics of the newly refurbished airframe on here but I'm having problems with picture sizing. I'll see what I can do with the camera/computer this weekend and see if I can get 'em on here.

Here's a link to a thread that involves a Brisighella Skybolt. I built the plane with plans, cowl, and wheelpants I bought in the early 80's. I then bought a balsa bundle (just lumber). All this sat in my basement all this time, until I finally built it last fall and summer 2011. The plane is still going strong, despite its dubious and humble beginnings. I just bought a Spektrum DX8 with all the telemetry I can get, and am now installing it into the Skybolt. By the way, a lot of guys have noted the difficulty making the metal parts, especially the cabane. I used Solidworks 3D cad modeling software to make the cabane you see, and then the software flattened it into a pattern. It was very accurate.

Is anyone building the 26% Skybolt at this time? I had started mine back in the eighty's. Built the fuse, wings, stabs, rudder, elavator and have been hauling them around since then. I just got the etch to complete it. Dug out the yellowed plans and started back at it.
