Default weight of steel?????????

OK if I have apprx 500 feet of 4" square tubing
12 feet x 30" diameter x 1/4 thick Pipe

What would all this weigh.....in pounds not metric Jens....

If I changed out the square tubing to 4" channel how much will that change this equation......Looking at building a new roller for our El Centro Field.....

Now if any of you have any of these parts speak up loudly....ESPECIALLY THE 30" PIPE AND THE 4" SQUARE TUBING LOLLOLLOL...that should cover it......Get on this Mith I now you have the whereabouts to figure this out in about five to six min. You too MXWrench

Also I need to know what a 36" x 8' piece of concreat weighs.....That's what we use know to roll our field and I know how it work behind my truck in the softer stuff.......really could use somebody's help with this so I don't end up building something only a catapillar will pull.......Thanks for your time on this King

I may be way off but I searched the web and came up with the followng

500 feet square tubing = 322.50 lbs
12' x 30" x 1/4 wall = 919.20 lbs
total for meatal to be used =1241.70 lbs

I found specs for #30 30" pipe .312 wall @ 98.93 lb/ft
4" square tube .120 wall @ 6.33 lb/ft
4" square tube .188 wall @ 9.42 lb/ft

So, 12ft #30 pipe and 1/8 wall tube (4x4x100 ft)= 1820.16 lb
12ft #30 pipe and 3/16 wall tube (4x4x100 ft)= 2129.16 lb

If you want lots of weight for the roller, cap the ends of your 30" pipe and fill with cement.

Concrete typically weighs 150 to 160 lbs per cubic foot, depending on several factors like aggregate type/density. You didn't give a third dimension, so we can't calculate volume here.

36 x 8 x ??

A helpful tidbit: Steel Mass is 0.2836 lbs/cu in... so calc the cubic inches and multiply by 0.2836.

I have both the Ryerson and Jorgenson steel books. They list all the common structural and piping steel weights, but you have to give an accurate measure of the wall thickness. I Beams are a little different, you need the web thickness as well as the H & W.

pipe 30" x 12' say 1/4 wall.........I kinda think the pipe alone with the towing structure will be enough weight...remember it's pulled by my truck not a tracktor.......now I need to find all this material for free or pay me to come and get it...LOLOLOLOLOLOL...I just hate our roller it's about 7 feet wide and take for ever to roll out the field.....12' roller sounds good to me.....Thanks for the help guys....now let's find the material.....To roll the entire field it takes me a good 6 hours but I roll with a 1/4 to half overlay on the last pass seems to work best that way....less ridges left on the surface.....sur would like to cut that in half......
