That is some funny **** right there.. "I don't care all my friends fly JR" I love Futuba I just am not smart enough to program one..So I will stick with my 20 satellite receivers.
I remember when I used to fly with EK in the late 70`s and early 80`s we used to see the odd new guy, or daring flyer come out to the field with the budget brand green and tan Pewtaba line of TX`s. We all watched them pile in left in right, but the die hards stuck with them, not thinking a few bucks more was worth the investment for reliability. The company finally gained some ground in the early eighties, and finally started building a half a$$ TX just as JR was making a name for themselves.
Hyundai cars is another good example of a cheap, budget product forging ahead and gaining some reputation among die hard followers.
Futaba to me, will always be the budget alternative, just like Hitec TX`s are now, though I finally really honestly think that the orange and black do have some quality control in their assembly line. I still cannot get over watching dozens of Futaba controled models pile in at the field with the same thought to reliability as a Air Hog plane has now has bought from Toy`s R Us.
I have used JR since 1989. And I have never had one glitch, one failure of any kind with their control systems. They were light years ahead of their time with their features. A 20 year old TX (PCM10) features I still have puts many new TX`s put out by other brands in what they offer to shame. Almost laughable.
So good going Hyundai, I mean Futaba, you now have some respectability, but gained it at the costs of a lot of balsa wood and tears.
You get what you pay for I always say.
But hey, you guys sure do look pretty in your orange shirts!

Reason: spelling
lol, if we really want to turn this into a radio thread...
I've bought:
9C
9303
Aurora9
I feel the most confident with the Aurora. It's much quicker than the 9303 and 9C. Programming wise, the 9303 is last, when it comes to the features I use and the overall flexibility. Every system has issues, but I don't like it when I don't like something on my 9303, JR seems to have the opinion that they know what's best for me. Well, Hitec has fulfilled my wishes, and then some. I was at the Nall and saw many of the JR issues, and had some minor ones myself. Not saying that Futaba doesn't have issues, but it seems that Futaba listens to their customers. In this regard, this video is pretty accurate.....

Chad, Futaba may have been budget in the past, and before my time... but it has been premium equipment for quite some time now, in racing circles the 3PK stood out in front of the pack, the Futaba radio is top class, just look at their offerings over the years, they have the been at the forefront of technology... if anything is budget it is the Hitec range of equipment, but that mean nothing because Hitec is also great gear.
In my time of flying (10+yrs) all brands of radios have created balsa wood piles, your beloved JR is no different.
Most of the modern radios are good, they have their problems but they are all workable... JR, Futaba, Hitec, Airtronics.... stick with these brands and you will avoid the balsa pile.
