Default FASST on 7.4

Anybody running FASST on 7.4v? I know Futaba only recommends 6v, but I have heard of people running unregulated on it. Just wondering if anybody here has experience doing that - I do not want a bundle of wood with a lump of melted plastic RX in it.

Bill Baxter from Hobbyco (Futaba service center) says they will handle 8v. Keep in mind thatca 7.4v Li-Io will have over 8.0v on a fresh charge.

The RX's will handle up to 12v...servo's will not. Question is how much amperage can the RX handle. I run 2-6014 rx's and 9156's on a smartfly turbo reg set at 6.5v, been that way for over 2 years no problems.

More voltage more heat. I run power expander pro. Servos see 7.4 and the receiver sees 5 .

I think it goes More Current , more heat.... for a given "Work"... more voltage means less current and less heat....

I had prolly over a dozen flights on a 100" C130 four motor electric with a single 6014 Rx at 8.4 volts (Li-Ion) unregulated and 9 servos and 4 ESCs with no issues....

over-amping an Rx is a myth......

I have heard guy's say this in our hobby many time's, mainly with ignition systems but,
this is a false statement, Mith is right. more voltage= less current=less heat for given task. this is electrical fact from anything to our radio system's to 200hp motors. Now I don't know the making's of a receiver or understand exactly why they say only up to a certain voltage. but everything has a spec voltage limit, meaning you can't put 600V into a 480V motor. or run a 7.4 V servo on 12V. So I would gather there is a component inside a receiver that will not handle but up to a certain voltage.

Same goes with ignition systems.

Mith, over amping a receiver is not a "Myth". If you have a big Electrical load you must up the voltage to supply it. I would like to find a chart for referance but if you have your load you just described say was 8amps, drop the voltage to 6 and it could go to 12amps, go to 4.8 and it may be 16 amps. For example I am working on a 20Hp pump motor right now, @230V it will draw 50amps. At 480V it only draws 20 amps. just drop this down to .003hp and call it a servo and switch fro A.C. current to D.C.

I'm only running 5 Hitec 7954's and a throttle. Just don't want a meltdown, and I want the high voltage for the power of the servos. Hopefully that will not be too high a load on the RX
