Wrong. The whole reed valve assembly is different and so is the carb, crankcase and cylinder. The cylinder is made by the manufacture that used to make the V1 cylinders for DLE. I know because I own both and know what parts are different. I have had both completely stripped down and compared/measured the components.

That would depend on what problems you are referring to. I was addressing a post that said DLE and DLA were the same thing. They are not.

so far the 56 that i have is running good, the only trouble i had with it is the reed block surface needed to be wet sanded down with some 300 wetdry paper.the reed block is cast and never was cleaned up after.
who cares if it blows, parts are cheap and can be bought anywhere.it runs neck and neck rite along with the DLE55 i have.

You will find that the difference between the "troublesome" DLA's and the "Good" DLA's come down to one or more of the following 3 things.

Early or more recent deliveries from the factory.
The early ones were pretty haphazard (and I am being VERY nice when I say that). In later times the "factory" has cleaned up its act a lot.

The user
Sometimes the users don't realise they have a problem until it has got real bad. Often by then, they have moved on to the next latest "Shiny thing".

The Supplier.
There are a couple of VERY good suppliers in the USA that actually go through the engines prior to delivery. Other suppliers (usually cheaper sources) just ship whatever they get given and that is a serious risk with prety much all of the "Cheapy" engines.

Seems to me that when you get one of the "good" DLA's they are a pretty decent performer but a "bad" one is really bad. Doesn't seem to be many in betweens (That statement applies to oh so many of the lower priced brands nowadays).
