Well, as on the other thread I have on this model, I was very happy with the quality and flight performance of the 30cc MSX-R I got from Peakmodel, and I have now gotten the full blown gasser bug and wanted a third gas model. I found out through a nice chap by the name of Grover (Greg) in Australia on here that another distributor in China sells the same line as Peak, SDSHobby:
Wholesale RC Hobby - China Wholesale Dropship RC Hobby from China
I tried their live chat. I got a instant response to my questions from a person who understood and wrote good English. They also have a phone # that you can actually get and talk to some one on. They have customer service 24 hours on week days, as well as some hours on Saturday.
So I sold most of my glowtard stuff to finance this one, and here we are.
I ordered it on July 27th, and it only took 9 days to come to the post office up the street. Nice.
Now this airframe is gonna sit just as a back up for a few months as I slowly get the goodies for it, but I had to share it with you, as it is one of the nicest looking models I have ever owned.
When I got my grubby mitts on the box today, I done a quick 360 of the box before signing my John Henry on the forms. It was in better shape than the last one I got from China. Some mild creasing on one side had me worried a bit, wondering how heavy a object might have been squashing on there. I paid the few bucks extra that SDS offered for insurance (Peak had no similar offer that I saw) and peace of mind, and if I saw any bad crushes or scrushes, I was not going to accept it. The boxes they use are half inch thick layered card board. Tough stuff, but still thats it. No hard board or wood in the container, no packing paper, or foam.
I ripped into it when I got home in the basement like a kid on Christmas, and inspected all the parts for damage, then quality. The cowl was in its own separate compartment in foam paper. The pants were wrapped in foam paper, bagged, and taped to the lid. The stabs and rudder were bagged and taped to a inner box divider under the fuse. The fuse was bagged and held in place in the middle of the box by the fin and engine box. The wings were bagged and below the divider below the fuse. Scary. Any punctures would smunch the wings. The hardware was bagged and in its own divided compartment with the mini CD. My plastic bag was torn, and the smaller bagged hardware was loose in the compartment.
The bad:
-Like the MSX-R, it is hinged, but they are not glued into the surfaces. Hinges are good looking quality riveted horny type.
-No decals at all for the racing number or Canadian Maple Leaf for rudder (WTF! It`s a Canadian paint job! The best part is the Maple Leaf! As the beer commercial states: I AM CANADIAN!! LOL)
-Fuse stripes are not scale and a bit lame looking. Should be tapered in thickness.
-A few more wrinkles than the MSX-R had (it had virtually none), especially around that tricky part were the fin meets the fuse. I will have to be careful there with the iron.
-Some dull streaks on the sides of the cowl and pants, which I think is from contacting other parts before the paint was cured.
- Some fine, fine white lines/edging along the covering edges on the separate pieces of covering on the fuse. Hardly noticeable.
- Secondary color is white, not the scale silver as the full size has.
-Bottom hidden cowl bolts look hard to reach, time will tell on this. Should be outside on bottom of cowl
-Foam turtle deck.
-Minimal wood in the canopy hatch/cover.
-No spinner.
-Frukin metric hardware.
The good:
-What a beautiful looking machine. The Ferrari red is a knock out! It looks sweet. I can`t wait to get the rest of the $h!t for it man! Let`s rip the gear out of the MSX-R, install it all in this one, and fly this thing! It gives me a woody. LMAO!
- Takes a can

-Comes with a CD manual. Now this is just probably their generic manual and not worth a damn. All I want to know is recommended CG anyhow. Which will probably be on the tube/spar. Surface deflections I will set up like my MSX-R. Just copy/paste that set up.
-Tinted canopy like the MSX-R.
- Fuel proofed engine box/fire wall.
-Aluminum bracing angles bolted in fuse for gear mounts.
- Beautiful air foiled carbon fiber one piece landing gear.
-Carbon fiber wing tube, stab tube, and tail wheel leaf leaf spring.
-Receiving tubes are carbon fiber too (the female ones) in wings and fuse. Who else does this?!
-Unlike my MSX-R, this one has small quarter inch carbon fiber tubing for the wing alignment pins, stab alignment pins, and canopy hatch alignment pins. Nice touch. The MSX-R just had wood doweling.
-Nice light wheels.
-Good paint match on fiber glass cowl and pants to covering.
-Don`t know brand of covering, but it seems to be the same stuff as is on my MSX-R, and it handled the iron and gun good. It adheres well, and does not sag in the hot sun. I will update on this.
- Fiber horns.
-Removable stabs.
-Very scale out line like my Aeroworks 50cc Edge.
-Scale wing tips with inboard scale aerodynamically counter balanced ailerons.
-Fuselage is recessed in to fit wings.
-Very light airframe (weight to come later).
-All glue joints look good. The over all fit and craftsmanship is excellent. As good as a Pilot ARF
-No taxes, or brokerage fees.
The price:
Sub-Total : CA$244.18
Expedited Shipping(5-12days): CA$127.31
Shipping Insurance: CA$2.44
Grand Total : CA$373.93
The rest of the hardware I will pick apart/ rag on, or compliment as the build progresses later in the year.
Anyways, heres a bunch of pics fresh out of the box........
