Default Blitz gas can

So found a thread a while back using a Blitz gas can to hold fuel for flying using Dubro fittings. So went out and bought one only to find out that these newer ones r a different style then the ones that they were using. It seems all these new cans have these fancy spigots on them and not a good cap to use to put the Dubro fittings thru. Anyone know of a good gas can to buy that wil work or a good way to make these newer cans work?

I'm with ya, I wish they'd bring back the ol' vented ones! Just get a new cap for the gas can. They do sell them as a solid unit without that cheap spout.

I actually prefer putting the fittings on the can beside the cap. It's kind of a pain getting your fingers in the hole for the cap, but once the fittings are in you don't have to deal with the fuel line everytime you take the cap off to fill the can.

Go into the local Home Depot or Lowes and buy accessory gas caps. They are packaged separately from gas cans since they do not comply with the latest, "greatest" air quality gas can standards. Often you can also go online to vist the can manufacturer websites to obtain a different storage cap.

Thanks guys! Helpful and quick as usual. I did not know they sold caps separately. So if I want one for the Blitz can I have to find Blitz caps right? Threads are probably different between different brands?

Also I was just thinking if you get one of these older style caps and seal up the main spout then how is it going to vent when sitting out in the sun without just loosening the cap?

Here. Keep the other can for the mower.

Fill, fuel, fly, repeat.

Easy Peasy.

Grabygoodness,

Thanks for the link. Problem is I already have a hand pump I bought, Tygon fuel line, Dubro fittings.

Are all these hand crank pumps good for gas or glo? I bought a Hangar 9 one at my lhs and it says its just for glo but I was thinking it said that because it came with non-gas safe fuel line...

The H-9 hand crank pump works for gas, glow, or smoke. The lines used with it are another story. There's no reason fittings have to go on a cap. They can be attached to anyplace accessible on the can. Sometimes it's even better that way. You find that out when removing the cap at the gas station.

So even if you go elsewhere on the can you still need a seal off cap of some sort right? just makes it so its purely not on the cap so you don't have lines twisting around?

I went Lowes and I don't think they have those old style caps anymore. They don't meet the EPA requirements so they arent carrying replacement parts...
