did you Check the connectors on the ignition unit and the switch to see if you have a broken wire? about a 50 cent fix if you have a broken wire at a connector

I had almost exactly the same thing happen to one of my planes on the weekend. (Not a 3W but an RCExcel ignition was firing the engine). It was a bad ignition battery (4 cell eneloop pack). The pack was charged before going to the field and it was only about 6 months old but sometime **** happens. The pack has now been disposed of and a new one fitted and all is sweet again.

The battery is new. I got another ing. new and tried it this week-end. Hit on the second flip with the chock on. i thought this is the fix. Opened the chock and set fast idle. three flips and the engine started but ran rough as a cob. then it back fired again and threw the prop across the runway. It pulled all 6 bolts out of the hub. now I either has to use hele coils or replace the hub. Not to mention a new prop. Some times I hate the spring, trying to these things ironed out.
Maybe I should just send it in and let someone else fix it. Sundays are for flying not working on sh+++t. Dennis

just got off the phone with AI and he thinks the hub may have moved. So i guess he gets the engine after he gets back from JoNall. If he's right it won't cost much to get my engine back in the air. Dennis

Gerhard will fix it up. There is a real small woodruff key in the crankshaft that the drive hub slips on, and it is very possible that the key has sheared. Even if the prop mounting holes are boogered, he will put a new hub on, and re-time the engine and give it a good run and send it back to ya.

Your right. don't have time to tinker with a engine when I need to fly. On top of having a engine down I have to put new gears in my 8711's Sat.
I have to finish up the wing for the high school class. The competition is next Monday. Dennis
